Job Title: Desktop Support Engineer

Job Summary

The Desktop Support Engineer is responsible for providing technical support to end-users, ensuring smooth operation of IT systems, and resolving hardware, software, and networking issues. This role involves troubleshooting, installing, configuring, and maintaining computer systems and applications, while delivering high-quality customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first- and second-level support for desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and other IT equipment.

• Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software applications, and security updates.

• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues and escalate complex problems to higher-level support if required.

• Support end-users via phone, email, remote tools, and in-person assistance.

• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access in Active Directory and other systems.

• Ensure compliance with IT security policies, including antivirus, patch management, and data protection.

• Document issues, solutions, and user requests in the ticketing/helpdesk system.

• Assist in hardware refreshes, software rollouts, and IT projects.

• Provide onboarding support and IT orientation for new employees.

• Maintain an inventory of IT assets and coordinate repairs or replacements.

Skills & Qualifications

Proven experience as a Desktop Support Engineer, IT Support Technician, or similar role.

• Strong knowledge of Windows, macOS, and/or Linux environments.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365, Active Directory, and common business applications.

• Good understanding of computer networks (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).

• Experience with remote support tools and helpdesk ticketing systems.

• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently under pressure.
