Job Responsibilities – VMC Operator (Vertical Machining Center)

Position: VMC Operator

Department: Production – Machining

Industry: Sheet Metal & Fabrication / Precision Machining

Experience: 2–10 Years

Key Responsibilities

Ø Operate VMC (Vertical Machining Center) machines as per production requirements.

Ø Set up tools, fixtures, and workpieces before machining operations.

Ø Load and unload raw materials and finished components safely.

Ø Read and interpret engineering drawings and process sheets.

Ø Ensure machining is carried out as per specified dimensions and tolerances.

Ø Perform first-piece inspection and in-process quality checks using measuring instruments (Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Dial Gauge, etc.).

Ø Monitor machine performance and make basic offset corrections when required.

Ø Change cutting tools and maintain proper tool life.

Ø Achieve daily production targets while maintaining quality standards.

Ø Maintain machine cleanliness and follow 5S practices.

Ø Report machine breakdowns, tool damage, or quality issues to the supervisor.

Ø Minimize rejection, rework, and material wastage.

Ø Follow all safety procedures and wear the required PPE.

Ø Maintain daily production and machine operation records.
