STORE ASSISTANT – PACKAGING INDUSTRY
(Tally Knowledge is Mandatory)

Reporting To: Store In-Charge / Store Manager
Job Purpose
To efficiently manage day-to-day store and warehouse activities, including receipt, inspection, storage, issue, and inventory control of raw materials, packaging materials, consumables, spare parts, and finished goods, while maintaining accurate records in Tally ERP.
Key Responsibilities
1. Material Receipt & Inward
Receive and verify incoming materials against PO, Delivery Challan, and invoices.
Check quantity, description, specifications, and condition of materials.
Prepare and maintain Material Inward / GRN records.
Coordinate with Purchase, Quality, and Accounts for discrepancies.
2. Material Storage & Inventory Management
Store materials properly with clear identification and location tagging.
Follow FIFO / FEFO guidelines and monitor minimum/maximum stock levels.
Identify slow-moving, excess, obsolete, and shortage materials.
Conduct regular physical stock verification.
3. Material Issue
Issue materials against authorized Material Requisitions.
Maintain proper issue records and authorization logs.
Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, and other departments for timely availability.
4. Tally & Inventory Records (Mandatory)
Maintain day-to-day store transactions in Tally ERP / Tally Prime.
Enter receipts, issues, transfers, and stock adjustments promptly.
Maintain item masters, stock records, and inventory reports.
Reconcile physical stock with Tally stock.
Coordinate with Accounts for bills, GRN, and inventory documents.
Ensure proper documentation of all store transactions.
5. Packaging Industry Material Handling
Handle inventory of raw materials, inks, solvents, adhesives, films, paper, labels, cores, cartons, consumables, spares, electrical items, and general stores.
Ensure proper storage and identification of all materials used in printing and packaging operations.
6. Stock Control & Reporting
Maintain daily stock records and inventory registers.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly stock reports.
Support monthly and periodic stock reconciliation.
Maintain records of damaged, rejected, and obsolete materials.
Report shortages, excess stock, and discrepancies immediately.
7. Documentation
Maintain POs, DCs, GRNs, Material Requisitions, Issue Slips, and other store documents.
Ensure traceability of materials from receipt to issue.
Maintain proper filing and store documentation.
Support audits related to stores and inventory.
8. Coordination
Coordinate with Purchase for pending and expected material deliveries.
Coordinate with Production for raw material requirements.
Coordinate with Maintenance for spares and consumables.
Coordinate with Accounts for invoice and GRN issues.
Coordinate with Quality for inspection and rejections.
9. Housekeeping & Safety
Maintain cleanliness and proper organization in the store.
Ensure safe and systematic storage of materials.
Follow safety procedures and PPE requirements.
Ensure proper handling and storage of chemicals and sensitive materials.
Prevent unauthorized access to the store.
Required Skills
Tally ERP / Tally Prime knowledge is mandatory.
Good knowledge of inventory management and stock control.
Proficiency in MS Excel and basic computer operations.
Hands-on experience in GRN, material inward/outward, and issue processes.
Knowledge of FIFO / FEFO principles and stock reconciliation.
Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
Ability to identify and resolve stock discrepancies.
Good communication and coordination skills.
Ability to work independently and manage day-to-day store activities.
Experience & Educational Qualification
Experience: 4 – 5 years of relevant experience in Stores / Warehouse / Inventory Management. (Experience in Printing, Packaging, Flexible Packaging, Plastic, Manufacturing, or Converting Industry will be preferred).
Education: Graduate / Diploma / 12th Pass with relevant store experience. (Additional qualification in Inventory Management / Supply Chain will be an advantage).
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Inventory accuracy and stock reconciliation.
Timely material receipt and issue.
Accuracy of Tally entries and store documentation.
Reduction in stock discrepancies.
Proper control of minimum / maximum stock levels.
Timely availability of materials to Production and Maintenance.
Proper identification and storage of materials.
Timely submission of inventory reports.
Preferred Candidate Profile
A responsible and hands-on Store Assistant with 4–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or packaging environment, having strong knowledge of inventory control, material inward/outward, stock reconciliation, and documentation. Strong practical knowledge of Tally ERP / Tally Prime is mandatory, along with good Excel and computer skills.
