A Quality Head in manufacturing leads quality assurance, develops systems, ensures compliance (ISO, etc.), manages teams, and drives continuous improvement (CI) to meet customer needs, reduce waste, and maintain high product standards from raw materials to final output, involving audits, root cause analysis, and reporting to management.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Systems: Develop and implement the overall Quality Management System (QMS), setting standards, procedures, and specifications for products and processes.
Compliance & Standards: Ensure adherence to internal policies, national/international standards (like ISO), and legal/safety regulations.
Team Leadership: Lead, train, and mentor quality assurance/control teams, managing daily activities and assigning tasks.
Process Control: Oversee inspection, testing, and evaluation of raw materials, in-process goods, and final products.
Continuous Improvement (CI): Drive CI initiatives, using Lean, Six Sigma, and data analysis (SPC) to reduce waste, increase efficiency, and solve quality issues.
Supplier Management: Work with purchasing to set quality requirements for external suppliers.
Reporting & Analysis: Collect, analyze, and report quality data, identifying weaknesses and recommending improvements.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise with production, engineering, and management, and gather customer feedback to meet expectations.
