JOB DESCRIPTION: QUALITY CHECKER / QUALITY SUPERVISION (AUTOMOTIVE)
Location: On-Site (Shop Floor)
Job Type: Full-Time
Department: Quality Control
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for an active, hands-on Quality Checker / Quality Supervisor to lead quality inspection directly on the shop floor. The ideal candidate must have 100% practical, independent capability in using manual precision measuring instruments and hardness testing equipment. Theoretical knowledge alone will not qualify; you must be able to inspect parts at machines, direct inspectors, and ensure zero-defect parts move to the next stage.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & CORE REQUIREMENTS
1. Practical Instrument Handling & Testing (Mandatory)
• Precision Measuring Tools: Daily hands-on operation of Vernier Calipers (Manual/Digital), Outside & Inside Micrometers, Depth Gauges, Dial Bore Gauges, and Height Gauges.
• Limit & Fixed Gauges: Quick verification using Go/No-Go Plug Gauges, Ring Gauges, Thread Gauges, Feeler Gauges, Radius/Pitch Gauges, and Bevel Protractors.
• Hardness Testing: Full hands-on execution of Rockwell Hardness Tests (HRA, HRB, HRC), including surface preparation and load application.
• Metrology Fundamentals: Proper understanding of Least Count, Zero Error correction, calibration status verification, and proper instrument handling.
2. Blueprint Reading & Inspection
• Read 2D engineering drawings.
• Perform First-Piece, Line Patrol, and Pre-Dispatch Inspections (PDI).
• Catch surface defects early (burrs, cracks, porosity, blowholes, chatter marks).
3. Defect Control & Problem Solving
• Immediately tag and separate defective parts (OK, Reject, Rework, Hold).
• Identify root causes of quality issues and defect trends.
• Ensure operators follow quality check sheets and control plans.
4. Line Supervision & Reporting
• Supervising daily inspection flow on incoming lines, machining stations, and final dispatch.
• Maintaining Daily Inspection Reports (IIR, PDIR, NCR) and tracking scrap/rejection rates.
• Verifying batch numbers against supplier Material Test Certificates (MTC).
CANDIDATE PROFILE
• Education: ITI / Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical, Automobile, or Production Engineering.
• Experience: 2 to 6 years of direct shop-floor inspection/supervision experience in automotive components, casting, machining, or press shop.
• Key Requirements: Independent measurement capability without supervision, 2D drawing reading, hands-on Rockwell Hardness testing, and shop-floor quality discipline.
