The Production Engineer is responsible for planning, monitoring, and improving daily production activities to ensure maximum productivity, quality, safety, and on-time delivery. The role involves coordinating with production, quality, maintenance, stores, and planning teams to achieve production targets while minimizing downtime and wastage.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and execute daily production activities as per the production schedule.
Monitor machine utilization, production output, and operator performance.
Ensure production targets are achieved within the defined quality standards.
Coordinate with the PPC team for material availability and production planning.
Monitor and reduce production rejections, rework, and material wastage.
Prepare and maintain daily production reports, shift reports, and MIS.
Implement process improvements to increase productivity and reduce cycle time.
Coordinate with the Quality department to resolve production-related quality issues.
Ensure adherence to SOPs, work instructions, and safety regulations.
Coordinate with the Maintenance department for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
Train and guide machine operators on production processes and best practices.
Monitor manpower allocation and optimize workforce utilization.
Support implementation of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
Ensure proper documentation related to production processes and records.
Participate in new product development (NPD) trials and process validation when required.
Required Skills:
Knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes.
Understanding of fabrication, welding, laser cutting, bending, and assembly operations.
Production planning and process monitoring.
Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and TPM.
Ability to read engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.
Good communication and team coordination skills.
Strong analytical and reporting skills.
Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP/MRP software, and production documentation.
