1. Main Role of a Civil Site Supervisor
A Site Supervisor is the "eyes and ears" of the engineer on ground. You manage daily site work, labor, material, and make sure work happens as per drawing and safety rules.
2. Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Daily Work Management: Check labor attendance, assign work to masons, carpenters, bar-benders, helpers.
- Quality Check: See that concrete mixing, brickwork, plastering, curing is done properly as per specification.
- Material Management: Keep record of cement, steel, sand, aggregate received. Report shortages to engineer/store.
- Reading Drawings: Understand basic civil drawings, mark levels, check measurements on site.
- Safety: Make sure all workers wear helmets, safety shoes. Follow safety rules. Report accidents.
- Coordination: Coordinate between contractor, engineer, architect, and labor.
- Progress Report: Maintain daily work diary. Click site photos. Report daily progress to Project Engineer/Manager.
- Bar Bending Schedule BBS: Check steel cutting, bending as per BBS before casting.
3. Skills Required
- Basic knowledge of civil construction steps: PCC, RCC, brickwork, plaster, waterproofing
- Ability to read tape, spirit level, plumb bob, auto level if possible
- Basic MS Excel, WhatsApp reporting, email
- Labor handling & communication
- Time management
