Job Description – Head – Steel Melting Shop - Shreeyam Power & Steel Industries Ltd (Gandhidham - Kutch) - National TMT

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the long-term strategy for the Steel Melting Shop (SMS) aligned with the organization's business growth, profitability, and operational excellence objectives.

• Operations Management: Lead end-to-end operations of the Induction Furnace (IF), Ladle Refining Furnace (LRF), and Continuous Casting Machine (CCM) to achieve production, quality, cost, and delivery targets.

• Production & Productivity: Ensure optimum plant utilization, maximize throughput, improve yield, reduce process losses, and consistently achieve production plans.

• Cost & Profitability: Manage SMS as a profit and cost centre by optimizing power consumption, alloy usage, refractory consumption, scrap utilization, yield, and overall manufacturing costs.

• Capacity Expansion & Technology: Drive capacity enhancement projects, process modernization, automation, digitalization, and adoption of advanced technologies to improve operational efficiency.

• Quality Excellence: Ensure production of high-quality steel grades by maintaining process discipline, improving metallurgical practices, reducing defects, and supporting new product development.

• Continuous Improvement: Lead Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

• Safety, Health & Environment: Foster a zero-harm safety culture by ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, environmental regulations, ESG initiatives, and sustainable manufacturing practices.

• Maintenance Coordination: Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability, minimize breakdowns, and enhance plant availability through preventive and predictive maintenance.

• Digital Transformation: Promote data-driven decision-making through process automation, real-time production monitoring, predictive analytics, and digital dashboards.

• People Leadership: Build, mentor, and develop high-performing teams by strengthening technical capabilities, succession planning, employee engagement, and performance management.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Rolling Mill, Quality, Raw Material, Planning, Procurement, Maintenance, and Commercial teams to optimize the overall manufacturing value chain.

• Stakeholder Management: Represent the SMS function in management reviews, audits, investment discussions, customer interactions, and strategic business meetings.

• Governance & Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies, statutory regulations, quality systems, and operational governance while maintaining high standards of ethics and accountability.

• Business Performance: Drive continuous improvement in key performance indicators including production, quality, cost, energy efficiency, yield, safety, customer satisfaction, and overall profitability.
