Job Summary
FEPL Engineering Pvt. Ltd. urgently requires an experienced Fabrication Fitter who has strong practical knowledge of sheet-metal fabrication, industrial fitting, assembly, drilling, grinding, cutting, bending, alignment, and finishing work.
The candidate should be capable of independently understanding fabrication drawings, taking accurate measurements, marking materials, preparing components, and assembling fabricated structures, cabinets, panels, skids, frames, tanks, trays, brackets, supports, and other sheet-metal or structural items.
The candidate should be quality-conscious, disciplined, safety-oriented, and willing to work both at the FEPL workshop and at customer project sites as and when required.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sheet-Metal Fabrication
Carry out fabrication work using mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, and other sheet-metal materials.
Accurately mark, cut, bend, drill, grind, fit, and assemble sheet-metal components.
Fabricate electrical and instrumentation cabinets, enclosures, panels, boxes, covers, doors, trays, brackets, frames, supports, guards, and other customised sheet-metal items.
Prepare and fit sheet-metal components according to approved drawings, dimensions, and specifications.
Ensure correct bending angles, corner matching, squareness, alignment, and dimensional accuracy.
Carry out proper edge preparation, deburring, dressing, and finishing of fabricated parts.
Minimise material wastage by planning the cutting and utilisation of sheets properly.
Identify and correct distortion, misalignment, uneven gaps, and dimensional deviations during fabrication.
2. Fabrication Fitting and Assembly
Perform fitting and assembly of fabricated structures, equipment frames, skids, supports, tanks, cabinets, panels, and machine components.
Fit channels, angles, flats, pipes, plates, sheets, brackets, stiffeners, hinges, handles, locks, gaskets, and other fabrication components.
Check diagonal measurements, levels, verticality, squareness, clearances, and alignment before final welding or assembly.
Prepare components for welding by carrying out proper joint preparation, edge grinding, beveling, and tack fitting.
Coordinate with TIG, MIG, and Arc welders to ensure that components are correctly positioned before welding.
Correct minor fabrication defects through grinding, heating, straightening, re-fitting, or other suitable methods.
Carry out trial assembly before final welding, painting, polishing, or dispatch.
Assist in final assembly and installation of fabricated equipment and systems.
3. Drawing Reading and Measurement
Read and understand fabrication drawings, general arrangement drawings, sectional views, layouts, sketches, and dimensional details.
Accurately transfer dimensions from drawings to sheets, plates, angles, channels, and other materials.
Understand basic fabrication symbols, welding requirements, tolerances, bend directions, hole locations, and assembly references.
Use measuring instruments such as:
Measuring tape
Steel rule
Vernier caliper
Try square
Combination square
Spirit level
Bevel protractor
Inside and outside calipers
Plumb bob and other fitting tools
Cross-check all critical dimensions before cutting, drilling, bending, and welding.
Immediately report any discrepancy or unclear dimension in the drawing to the supervisor or production engineer.
4. Machine and Tool Handling
The candidate should have practical experience in safely using tools and machines such as:
Hand grinder and angle grinder
Drilling machine and magnetic drilling machine
Bench grinder
Cut-off machine
Power saw or band saw
Sheet-cutting and shearing machine
Press brake and bending machine
Hydraulic or mechanical punching machine
Hand tools used for fitting and fabrication
Clamps, jigs, fixtures, vices, hammers, punches, scribers, and marking tools
The candidate should also be able to select the correct cutting disc, grinding wheel, drill bit, tool, and accessory depending upon the material and work requirement.
5. Stainless-Steel Work
Handle stainless-steel sheets and components carefully to prevent scratches, dents, contamination, and damage.
Use suitable tools and consumables for stainless-steel fabrication.
Maintain proper surface finish on visible stainless-steel components.
Carry out grinding, buffing, polishing, and finishing wherever required.
Ensure that stainless-steel components are protected during fabrication, handling, storage, and transportation.
Maintain separation between stainless-steel and mild-steel tools/materials wherever required to prevent contamination.
6. Quality Control
Ensure all fabricated items conform to approved drawings and specified dimensions.
Check hole sizes, hole pitch, bends, cut-outs, elevations, alignment, and overall dimensions.
Maintain the required tolerances and workmanship standards.
Inspect fabricated components before offering them for welding, painting, polishing, assembly, or quality inspection.
Avoid unnecessary rework by checking measurements at every important stage.
Rectify fabrication defects identified during internal or customer inspection.
Take personal responsibility for the accuracy and quality of assigned work.
Support inspection and documentation activities whenever required.
7. Site Installation and Travel
Travel to refineries, fertilizer plants, engineering companies, manufacturing plants, and other customer sites as and when required.
Carry out fitting, assembly, modification, repair, installation, alignment, and rectification work at customer sites.
Work according to customer site rules, safety requirements, permit systems, and instructions.
Be willing to stay at project locations for the required duration.
Handle company tools, machines, materials, and measuring instruments responsibly during site work.
Coordinate with FEPL engineers, supervisors, customers, contractors, and other technicians at site.
Work overtime, in shifts, or on holidays when required for urgent production, shutdown, commissioning, or project activities, subject to company rules.
Required Technical Skills
The candidate should have good practical knowledge of:
Sheet-metal fabrication

MS and SS fabrication
Marking, measuring, cutting, drilling, grinding, bending, and assembly
Fabrication drawing interpretation
Dimensional inspection
Preparing and fitting components for welding
Structural frames, skids, cabinets, enclosures, supports, brackets, and sheet-metal assemblies
Using fabrication tools, machines, jigs, and fixtures
Maintaining squareness, alignment, level, and dimensional accuracy
Surface finishing and deburring
Basic knowledge of TIG, MIG, and Arc welding processes
Workshop and industrial safety practices
Educational Qualification
ITI in Fitter, Sheet Metal Worker, Fabrication, Welder, or a related trade will be preferred.
Candidates without formal ITI qualification may also be considered if they have strong practical experience and can independently perform the required work.
Ability to read basic fabrication drawings and take accurate measurements is essential.
Experience Requirements
Minimum 3–4 years of relevant hands-on experience in sheet-metal and industrial fabrication work.
Candidates with more than four years of relevant experience are welcome and may be considered for a higher salary.
Experience in fabrication of industrial equipment, skids, tanks, stainless-steel cabinets, control panels, machine enclosures, structural frames, and customised fabrication will be preferred.
Experience of working at refineries, petrochemical plants, fertilizer plants, engineering sites, or other industrial project sites will be an advantage.

Salary and Benefits
Monthly Salary: ₹25,000–₹30,000
A higher salary may be considered for candidates having strong sheet-metal skills, drawing-reading ability, stainless-steel fabrication experience, site experience, and the ability to work independently.
Final salary will be decided after the practical trade test and personal interview.
Site allowance, travelling expenses, accommodation, overtime, and other applicable benefits will be provided as per company policy and the nature of the assignment.
Statutory benefits will be applicable as per company policy and prevailing regulations.
