Job Title: CNC Operator (CNC/VMC Machine)

Reports to: Production Supervisor/Manager

Job Summary:

The CNC Operator will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC and VMC machines to produce flanges in accordance with engineering specifications. The ideal candidate should have experience in handling CNC machines, be proficient in reading technical drawings, and ensure that the production process runs efficiently, meeting the company’s quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Machine Operation:

   • Set up and operate CNC and VMC machines to perform machining operations on flanges as per the specified design and work instructions.

   • Load and unload parts on the machine, ensuring proper alignment and clamping for precise machining.

   • Monitor machine operations, adjust tool offsets, and make minor programming edits as required.

2. Quality Control:

   • Read and interpret technical drawings and work orders to determine machining specifications.

   • Perform first-off inspection and ensure in-process checks are carried out using precision measurement tools like micrometres, calipers, and gauges.

   • Ensure that finished components meet quality standards and dimensional tolerances.

3. Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

   • Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and tool changeovers.

   • Troubleshoot and resolve minor machine issues, collaborating with maintenance teams when necessary.

4. Production Efficiency:

   • Optimize machine run times, reduce setup time, and ensure efficient production flow.

   • Report any machine malfunctions or production issues to supervisors promptly.

   • Keep accurate records of production activities, including machine run times, production counts, and tool usage.

5. Safety and Compliance:

   • Follow all company safety procedures and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

   • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring that safety protocols are adhered to.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

1. Educational Qualification:

   • ITI/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field preferred.

2. Experience:

   • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in operating CNC and VMC machines, specifically in flange or component manufacturing.

   • Familiarity with G-code programming and CNC machine controls.

3. Technical Skills:

   • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.

   • Knowledge of machining processes, tool selection, and cutting parameters for various materials.

   • Ability to use precision measuring instruments.

4. Soft Skills:

   • Attention to detail and quality.

   • Problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.

   • Team player with good communication skills.

Working Conditions:

• Must be willing to work in shifts and overtime when required.

• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and heat.
