JOB OVERVIEW

Our client, a reputed precision manufacturing company at Manjusar GIDC, Vadodara, is looking for a skilled CNC Turning Machine Setter.

The selected candidate will be responsible for CNC machine setting, tooling, program verification, first-off inspection, dimensional control and production support for high-precision components, including orthopaedic implants and surgical instruments.

The candidate will be required to maintain close tolerances, maximize machine productivity, minimize rejection and strictly follow applicable ISO 13485, GMP, SOP and company quality and safety standards.

🔧 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set up CNC Turning Machines according to production planning, process sheets and approved work instructions.

• Install and align cutting tools, tool holders, chucks, collets and fixtures.

• Load and verify CNC programs before starting production.

• Set tool offsets, work offsets and wear compensation accurately.

• Conduct first-off inspection and coordinate with Quality for approval before mass production.

• Machine precision components as per approved drawings and specifications.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, process sheets, GD&T and work instructions.

• Monitor dimensions using Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Bore Gauge, Height Gauge, Thread Gauge, Plug Gauge, Ring Gauge and other precision instruments.

• Monitor spindle speed, feed rate, coolant flow, cutting conditions and tool wear.

• Perform tool changes and basic/minor program corrections when required.

• Troubleshoot issues related to tooling, fixtures, machine parameters and dimensional variation.

• Work towards reducing cycle time, rejection, rework and machine downtime without compromising quality.

• Coordinate with Quality Assurance for in-process inspection and final approval.

• Maintain machine cleanliness and follow 5S practices.

• Follow preventive maintenance schedules and immediately report machine abnormalities.

• Maintain records of production, tool consumption, machine utilization and rejection.

• Strictly follow SOPs, Work Instructions, ISO 13485, GMP guidelines and company safety procedures.

• Provide end-of-day production updates to Senior Production Staff.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Strong practical knowledge of CNC Turning Machine Setting & Operation.

• Knowledge of FANUC Controllers will be preferred.

• Basic understanding of G-Code and M-Code.

• Good knowledge of cutting tools, inserts, tool holders and machining parameters.

• Ability to achieve close-tolerance machining.

• Good understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T.

• Familiarity with precision measuring instruments.

• Knowledge of Titanium, SS 316L, Cobalt Chrome and other medical-grade materials will be an advantage.

• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Strong focus on quality, discipline, safety and productivity.

  QUALIFICATION

• ITI – Turner / Machinist / Fitter, OR

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

• CNC Turning Machine Setting certification will be an added advantage.

EXPERIENCE

1–3 Years of relevant experience as a CNC Turning Machine Setter.

Candidates with experience in the following industries will be preferred:

Orthopaedic Implants | Medical Devices | Precision Engineering | Aerospace | High-Precision Manufacturing

• Working: Shift-based as per company requirements.

• Overtime / additional shifts may be required based on production planning.
