The Project Design Engineer is responsible for designing, planning, and supporting ventilation systems for industrial, commercial, or infrastructure projects. The role involves preparing technical designs, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting projects from concept through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop ventilation systems in accordance with project requirements, applicable codes, and international standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, ISO, local regulations, etc.).

• Perform ventilation calculations including air flow, pressure loss, smoke extraction, and contaminant control.

• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, layouts, schematics, and technical specifications using CAD/BIM tools.

• Review project requirements and client specifications.

• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, civil, and architectural teams to ensure integrated design solutions.

• Support project execution teams with technical clarifications, design revisions, and site queries.

• Review vendor and subcontractor technical submittals and drawings.

• Participate in design reviews and value engineering exercises.

• Assist in testing, commissioning, and performance verification of ventilation systems.

• Ensure designs meet safety, energy efficiency, and sustainability requirements.

• Maintain proper documentation and design records throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

• 1-3 years of experience in ventilation or HVAC system design (experience level adjustable).

• Proven experience in industrial, tunnel, metro, power plant, mining, or commercial ventilation projects (as applicable).

• Strong knowledge of ventilation design principles, equipment selection, and system integration.

• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD.

• Experience with ventilation calculation software is an advantage.

• Experience with MS Office tools such as excel & word.
