Automobile Technician – Job Description
Overview:
An Automobile Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing vehicles to ensure they are safe, reliable, and operating efficiently. This role requires strong mechanical skills, diagnostic ability, attention to detail, and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance services, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid checks.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
Repair or replace faulty components such as brakes, steering systems, suspension parts, engines, and transmissions.
Conduct road tests to ensure vehicles operate correctly after service or repair.
Follow manufacturer specifications and service manuals when completing repairs.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and customer interactions.
Communicate clearly with service advisors or customers about necessary repairs, repair timelines, and cost estimates.
Ensure the workshop remains clean, safe, and compliant with regulatory and environmental standards.
Stay updated on new automotive technologies, systems, and repair techniques.
Skills & Qualifications:
Certification or diploma in Automotive Technology or related field (ASE certification preferred).
Proven experience as an automotive technician or mechanic.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and computerized vehicle systems.
Proficiency with diagnostic tools, hand tools, and repair equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot issues efficiently and accurately.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Physical ability to lift heavy parts and perform tasks requiring manual labor.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
