Job Title:

Pastry Chef / Cake Decorator

Job Summary:

A Pastry Chef or Cake Specialist is responsible for preparing, baking, and decorating cakes, pastries, and other desserts. They ensure high-quality presentation, taste, and consistency while maintaining hygiene and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and bake cakes, pastries, and desserts according to recipes

• Design and decorate cakes for special occasions (weddings, birthdays, events)

• Create new dessert recipes and improve existing ones

• Measure and mix ingredients accurately

• Monitor baking times and temperatures

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen/workstation

• Manage inventory of baking supplies and ingredients

• Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are followed

• Handle customer requests for customized cakes

Required Skills:

• Knowledge of baking techniques and ingredients

• Creativity and artistic skills for cake decoration

• Attention to detail

• Time management and ability to work under pressure

• Basic math skills for measurements and costing

• Teamwork and communication skills

Qualifications:

• Diploma or certification in Baking & Pastry Arts (preferred)

• Experience in a bakery, hotel, or pastry kitchen (1–3 years typical)

• On-the-job training may be accepted

Work Environment:

• Bakeries, hotels, restaurants, catering companies, or home-based businesses

• Early morning or late-night shifts may be required

• Standing for long periods and working in a fast-paced environment
