We are looking for an experienced and passionate South Indian Cook to join our culinary team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing authentic South Indian delicacies, maintaining traditional flavor profiles, and ensuring high standards of hygiene and food quality.
Key Responsibilities
Menu Preparation: Prepare and cook traditional South Indian dishes, including tiffins (Dosa, Idli, Vada, Uttapam, Pongal), meals/thalis, curries (Sambar, Rasam, Avial, Poriyal), and specialized regional rice items.
Batter Preparation: Manage the grinding, fermentation, and consistency of batters for dosas, idlis, and vadas to ensure consistent quality and texture.
Flavor & Quality Control: Ensure authentic taste, balance of spices, correct presentation, and temperature of all served dishes.
Kitchen Operations: Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards in the cooking and prep areas in compliance with food safety regulations.
Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels of ingredients (spices, lentils, rice, fresh produce) and coordinate with management for timely reordering to minimize waste.
Consistency & Efficiency: Work efficiently during peak hours to ensure fast ticket times while maintaining food quality.
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience: 2+ years of proven experience as a South Indian Cook in a high-volume restaurant, catering service, or hotel setting.
Culinary Skills: Expertise in traditional South Indian cooking techniques, spice blends, and batter fermentation processes.
Efficiency: Ability to work quickly under pressure during busy meal hours (especially breakfast and lunch rushes).
Hygiene Standard: Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen safety practices.
Teamwork: Good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff.
