Job Description: CDP Specialist / CDP Manager

Role Summary

The CDP Specialist/Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the organization’s Customer Data Platform. This role ensures high-quality customer data collection, unification, activation, and governance across marketing, product, analytics, and technology ecosystems. The ideal candidate combines technical data expertise with strong business understanding to drive personalized, data-driven customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities

1. CDP Implementation & Management

• Configure and maintain the Customer Data Platform, including data schemas, identity resolution rules, and event tracking frameworks.

• Partner with engineering teams to ensure accurate and scalable data pipelines.

• Integrate CDP with CRM, marketing automation, analytics, and advertising platforms.

2. Data Strategy & Governance

• Define and enforce data standards, taxonomies, and governance policies.

• Ensure compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulations.

• Monitor data quality, completeness, and performance.

3. Customer Data Unification

• Develop and optimize identity resolution and segmentation capabilities.

• Maintain a unified customer profile across channels.

4. Activation & Personalization

• Build and manage audience segments for marketing and product teams.

• Enable real-time personalization across channels (email, web, mobile, ads).

• Support execution of lifecycle campaigns using CDP data.

5. Analytics & Insights

• Provide insights into customer behavior, journeys, and lifetime value.

• Build dashboards or reports that leverage unified customer data.

• Collaborate with data science teams to support modeling and experimentation.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with marketing, product, engineering, analytics, and privacy/legal teams.

• Act as the internal SME for the CDP and customer data best practices.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Marketing Technology, or related field.

• 3–7 years of experience in CDP, MarTech, or data engineering roles.

• Hands-on experience with CDP platforms (e.g., Segment, Salesforce CDP, Tealium, mParticle, Adobe RTCDP).

• Strong understanding of event tracking, ETL/ELT processes, APIs, and data architecture.

• Experience with SQL and dashboard tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker).

• Understanding of privacy regulations and data governance best practices.

Preferred

• Experience in customer lifecycle marketing or personalization.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).

• Knowledge of Python or other scripting languages.

• Experience with A/B testing and experimentation tools.
