Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook continental dishes as per the café's recipes and standards.

Handle dishes such as pasta, pizza, sandwiches, burgers, fries, starters, salads, wraps, soups and other continental preparations.

Maintain consistent taste, portion size and presentation.

Follow standardized recipes and plating instructions.

Maintain proper food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen safety.

Ensure proper storage and handling of raw materials.

Check freshness and quality of ingredients before use.

Assist in daily mise en place and kitchen preparation.

Minimize food wastage and maintain proper portion control.

Monitor stock levels and inform management about low-stock ingredients.

Maintain FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.

Keep kitchen equipment and workstations clean and organized.

Coordinate with other kitchen team members during busy hours.

Manage orders efficiently and maintain reasonable preparation time.

Follow food-cost and wastage-control practices.

Suggest improvements to dishes, recipes and kitchen processes when required.

Maintain discipline and professionalism in the kitchen.

Required Skills

Good knowledge of continental cuisine.

Strong understanding of pasta, sauces, grilling, frying and basic baking techniques.

Ability to follow recipes accurately.

Good knife skills and basic kitchen techniques.

Understanding of food hygiene and safety.

Ability to work under pressure during peak hours.

Good teamwork and communication skills.

Strong focus on consistency and portion control.

Willingness to learn and adapt to the café's menu.

Preferred Qualities

Experience in a café, QSR or casual dining restaurant.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Knowledge of food costing and wastage control.

Creative approach to presentation and new dishes.
