Job Description – Commis 3

Position: Commis 3 – Tandoor / Chinese / Continental
Location: Mira Road, Maharashtra
Salary: ₹16,000/- per month
Department: Kitchen / Food Production
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Head Chef / Sous Chef / Commis 1 / Commis 2

Job Purpose

We are looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic Commis 3 to support the kitchen team in basic food preparation and kitchen operations. The candidate will assist in the Tandoor, Chinese or Continental section and follow instructions from senior chefs while maintaining hygiene, cleanliness and food-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Commis 1 and Commis 2 in daily kitchen operations.

• Perform basic food preparation such as washing, peeling, cutting and chopping.

• Assist with preparation of ingredients required for cooking.

• Support the assigned Tandoor, Chinese or Continental section.

• Assist senior chefs in preparing dishes as per standard recipes.

• Ensure all ingredients are properly prepared before service.

• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the assigned kitchen area.

• Assist in proper storage and handling of food items.

• Follow FIFO practices and help reduce food wastage.

• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils and workstations.

• Check ingredients for freshness and quality before use.

• Follow instructions given by the Head Chef and senior kitchen staff.

• Assist the kitchen team during busy service periods.

• Follow all kitchen SOPs, hygiene standards and food-safety procedures.

• Maintain discipline, punctuality and teamwork within the kitchen.

Section-Specific Responsibilities

Tandoor: Assist with preparation of marinades, breads, kebabs, tandoori items and other Tandoor preparations.

Chinese: Assist with preparation of vegetables, sauces, noodles, rice, starters and other Chinese preparations.

Continental: Assist with preparation of vegetables, soups, sauces, pasta, starters and other Continental preparations.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum 0–1 year of experience in a hotel, restaurant or similar food outlet; freshers with relevant culinary training may also be considered.

• Basic knowledge of Tandoor, Chinese or Continental food preparation is preferred.

• Basic understanding of kitchen operations and food preparation.

• Willingness to learn cooking techniques and develop kitchen skills.

• Knowledge of basic kitchen hygiene and food-safety practices.

• Good teamwork and communication skills.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

• Hotel Management / Culinary qualification will be an added advantage.
