Job Description - Chinese Commi Chefs

🔪 Key Responsibilities :

A Chinese Commis Chef assists senior chefs in the preparation and cooking of authentic Chinese cuisine. The role involves food preparation, maintaining kitchen hygiene standards, and supporting smooth kitchen operations while learning and developing culinary skills.

• Assist in the preparation of ingredients for Chinese dishes (chopping, marinating, portioning).

• Support the Chef de Partie or Head Chef in cooking and plating dishes.

• Prepare sauces, stocks, and basic components of Chinese cuisine.

• Ensure proper storage of food items according to safety standards.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workstation.

• Follow recipes and presentation specifications accurately.

• Monitor stock levels and report shortages.

• Comply with food safety, hygiene, and HACCP regulations.

• Assist with receiving and checking kitchen deliveries.

• Participate in team briefings and training sessions.

  
  🥢 Skills & Requirements
  Basic knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques (stir-frying, steaming, braising, deep-frying).

• Understanding of traditional ingredients such as soy sauces, hoisin, rice wine, and Chinese spices.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Good knife skills.

• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

• Willingness to learn and grow in the culinary field.

• Culinary diploma or equivalent training preferred.

• 1–4 years of kitchen experience (Chinese cuisine preferred).
