What You Will Own
1. Product Selection & Category Building
● Recommend which products and brands CIY should keep, add, or remove based on sales data, customer demand,
store feedback, and seasonal trends.
● Find new products in craft, art, hobby, stationery, gifting, sewing, beads, yarn, and related categories.
● Help build better product ranges for store shelves and online.
2. Own-Brand Product Development (Strategic Priority)
● Help CIY source products to be sold under the CIY own brand - this is a key growth lever for the business.
● Drive sample follow-up, costing, packaging coordination, and supplier comparison.
● Identify products with strong demand and healthy margin potential.
● Work under founder guidance for final product decisions, but bring strong sourcing options to the table.
3. Buying & Reordering
● Check sales and stock every week. Prepare reorder plans for fast-selling products.
● Keep top-selling products in stock above 95% of the time.
● Avoid overbuying products that may not sell.
● Follow up with suppliers until products are received and ready to sell.
4. Supplier & Factory Sourcing
● Find new suppliers, wholesalers, and direct factories.
● Compare prices, quality, delivery time, and payment terms.
● Negotiate better buying prices and terms.
● Build backup supplier options for important products.
● Visit local markets and suppliers regularly. Expect 1-2 days per week of field work in Pune; occasional travel to Mumbai
or Delhi for trade shows.
5. Pricing & Profit
● Check buying price, transport cost, packaging cost, and selling price before purchase.
● Help set prices that are competitive but still profitable.
● Suggest bundles, offers, and discount ideas to clear slow stock.
● Avoid buying decisions that block cash or reduce profit.
6. Slow Stock Control
● Track products that are not selling.
● Suggest action: bundle, discount, better display, online push, return to supplier, or stop reordering.
● Work with the store team to improve visibility of slow products.
● Reduce old stock month by month.
7. Store & Online Coordination
● Walk the store regularly and speak to the store team.
● Understand what customers are asking for - what is selling, what is stuck, what is missing.
● Coordinate with the online team for correct product names, prices, photos, and details.
● Make sure ordered stock, received stock, and supplier bills match before closing purchases.
Daily & Weekly Work
● Check sales and current stock daily.
● Make reorder lists and place purchase orders after approval.
● Follow up with suppliers for delivery and resolve issues.
● Compare supplier rates regularly; benchmark existing vendors against new quotes.
● Visit markets and suppliers 1-2 days per week.
● Walk the store at least twice a week to spot stockouts and slow movers.
● Share a weekly report: what sold well, what is out of stock, what was ordered, what is stuck, and what action is needed
next.

● Top-selling products stay in stock above 95% of the time.
● Slow and old stock reduces every month.
● Buying prices improve over time; supplier payment terms get more favourable.
● Supplier delivery becomes faster and more reliable.

● Interested in products, retail, craft, design, stationery, fashion accessories, gifting, or home products.
Experience Required
● 1 to 4 years of experience in purchase, retail buying, merchandising, sourcing, supplier management, retail operations,
or wholesale market work.
● Freshers may apply only if they have hands-on experience running a family business, working in a wholesale market, or
actively trading and reselling products. Pure academic backgrounds without practical street experience will not be
considered for this role.
Skills Needed
● Google Sheets or Excel.
● Basic maths: price, quantity, margin, discount, and transport cost.
● Supplier negotiation.
● Product comparison and market research.
● Follow-up and execution.
● Clear communication in Hindi and basic English. Marathi is a strong plus.
