Purchase Manager / Purchase Executive (Electrical)

Position Overview

We are looking for a Purchase Manager / Purchase Executive with a strong electrical engineering background and hands-on experience in electrical panels, switchgear, and related components procurement. The candidate will be responsible for end-to-end procurement activities, vendor management, cost optimization, and ensuring timely availability of quality electrical materials for projects and production.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage procurement of electrical items including LT/HT panels, switchgear, breakers, relays, contactors, cables, busbars, meters, transformers, and allied components.

• Develop and maintain a strong vendor base for electrical panels and switchgear manufacturers.

• Prepare and process purchase requisitions, RFQs, price comparisons, purchase orders, and contracts.

• Negotiate pricing, delivery timelines, payment terms, and warranties to achieve cost efficiency.

• Coordinate closely with engineering, project, production, and stores teams to understand material requirements.

• Ensure procurement aligns with technical specifications, drawings, BOQs, and quality standards.

• Monitor inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess stock.

• Follow up with suppliers for on-time delivery and resolve supply-related issues.

• Ensure compliance with company policies, statutory requirements, and audit standards.

• Maintain accurate purchase records, MIS reports, and vendor performance evaluations.

Technical Knowledge Required

• Strong understanding of electrical panels (PCC, MCC, APFC, VFD panels).

• Good knowledge of LT & HT switchgear (ACB, VCB, MCCB, MCB, relays).

• Familiarity with electrical standards and specifications.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documents.

• Awareness of leading OEM brands and suppliers in the electrical domain.

Qualification

• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering (preferred).

• Additional certification in Supply Chain / Procurement will be an advantage.

Experience

• 2 to 8 years of experience in electrical purchase / procurement.

• Prior experience in panel manufacturing companies, EPC firms, or electrical contracting companies is highly preferred.

• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.

• Good communication and coordination abilities.

• Analytical mindset with attention to detail.

• Proficiency in ERP systems, MS Excel, and procurement software.

• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
