A bank clerk is the primary point of contact for customers, acting as the front-line staff. They manage day-to-day branch operations, including processing cash transactions, opening new accounts, verifying KYC documents, and assisting senior officers with administrative tasks
Core Daily Responsibilities
Customer Service: Serving as a "Single Window Operator" to handle inquiries, resolve account issues, issue passbooks, and print account statements.
Transaction Processing: Accepting deposits, processing withdrawals, managing cash receipts, and handling demand drafts (DD).
Account & Document Management: Opening new term deposit and savings accounts, ensuring compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) guidelines, and verifying submitted documents.
Bookkeeping & Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate digital and paper records of daily transactions, ledgers, and balance sheets.
Clearances: Processing and clearing cheques, and assisting with outward or inward clearing protocols.
