Job Summary
Athena Group of Institutions is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to manage the institution's financial operations. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of accounting, student fee management, financial reporting, taxation, payroll, and statutory compliance. Experience in educational institutions will be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Student Fee Management
Manage and monitor student fee collections (tuition, hostel, transport, examination, etc.).
Generate and issue fee receipts accurately and on time.
Maintain student fee ledgers and ensure all transactions are recorded correctly.
Track pending fee payments and prepare defaulter reports.
Coordinate with students and parents regarding outstanding dues.
Accounts & Finance
Maintain day-to-day accounting records and books of accounts.
Perform bank reconciliations and ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded.
Verify and reconcile student accounts with ERP and bank statements.
Maintain proper records of vouchers, bills, invoices, and financial documents.
Prepare monthly financial statements, cash flow reports, and management reports.
Payroll & Compliance
Process monthly staff salaries and reimbursement claims.
Assist in GST, TDS, and other statutory compliance and tax filings.
Support internal and external audits by providing required financial documents.
Ensure compliance with institutional accounting policies and government regulations.
Budgeting & Reporting
Monitor income and expenses.
Prepare financial reports for management review.
Support annual budgeting and financial planning activities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Commerce (BCom), Finance, Accounting, or related field.
MCom, MBA (Finance), or CA Inter will be an added advantage.
Experience
3–7 years of accounting experience.
Experience in educational institutions, colleges, or universities is preferred.
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of Accounting Principles.
Hands-on experience with Tally Prime / ERP 9.
Advanced knowledge of MS Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Financial Reports).
Experience using College ERP software is preferred.
Good understanding of GST, TDS, payroll processing, and statutory compliance.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
