JOB DESCRIPTION – IPD BILLING EXECUTIVE

Designation: IPD Billing Executive
Department: IPD Billing / Accounts
Reporting To: Billing In-Charge / Accounts Manager / Hospital Administrator

Job Responsibilities

1. Prepare and manage IPD bills for both Cash and Cashless patients.

2. Handle patient billing from admission to final discharge.

3. Enter and verify all hospital services, medicines, consumables, investigations, procedures, room charges, doctor visits, and other billable items.

4. Prepare cash patient final bills, collect payments, issue receipts, and maintain proper cash records.

5. Handle cashless/TPA/insurance billing, including pre-authorization, approvals, extensions, deductions, and final authorization.

6. Coordinate with TPA/insurance companies and insurance desks regarding cashless claims and billing queries.

7. Verify insurance documents, patient eligibility, approvals, and required claim documentation.

8. Coordinate with Nursing, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Radiology, OT, Doctors, MRD and Accounts for accurate billing.

9. Prepare and submit cashless final bills and supporting documents to TPA/insurance companies.

10. Follow up on pending approvals, queries, deductions, and claim settlements.

11. Ensure accurate posting of all charges and minimize billing errors and revenue leakage.

12. Handle refunds, deposits, adjustments, discounts and outstanding amounts as per hospital policy and authorization.

13. Maintain proper records of cash and cashless billing transactions.

14. Assist patients and relatives with billing-related queries in a professional manner.

15. Ensure timely completion of discharge billing and coordinate with the concerned departments.

16. Maintain confidentiality of patient, billing, insurance and financial information.

17. Follow hospital policies, billing procedures, NABH requirements, and applicable insurance/TPA guidelines.

Required Skills

• Knowledge of IPD Cash & Cashless Billing

• Knowledge of TPA/Insurance Billing

• Basic knowledge of hospital billing software

• Good computer and MS Office skills

• Good communication and coordination skills

• Attention to detail and numerical accuracy

• Ability to work in rotational shifts, if required

• Relevant hospital billing experience preferred
