Job Description
We are a Kolkata-based law and advisory firm seeking a detail-oriented Accounts & Audit professional to handle audit support, accounts finalization, and income tax compliance for a diverse client portfolio of companies and firms.
The role involves:
Assisting in and independently conducting internal audits and preparing audit observation reports for management review.
Performing ledger scrutiny — reconciliation of accounts, identification of misclassifications, and resolution of discrepancies across client books.
Finalisation of accounts for companies, firms, and proprietorships including drafting of financial statements — Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss Account, Cash Flow Statement, and Notes to Accounts.
Filing of Income Tax Returns across all applicable forms (ITR 1 through ITR 7) for individuals, HUFs, firms, LLPs, companies, trusts, and other entities.
Assisting in Tax Audits under Section 44AB including compilation of Form 3CD schedules and supporting documentation.
Supporting Statutory Audit engagements under the Companies Act, 2013 — vouching, verification, and working paper preparation. Coordinating with clients for data collection, query resolution, and timely completion of assignments.
Skills Requirements
Educational Qualification: B.Com / M.Com / BBA (Finance) / CMA Inter / CA Inter or equivalent. Candidates who have completed articleship but are not yet members of ICAI are also eligible. Preference will be given to candidates with relevant hands-on experience over qualifications alone.
Technical Skills:
Working knowledge of Indian accounting principles and financial statement preparation — Balance Sheet, P&L, and Cash Flow — for companies and firms. Practical experience filing ITR forms (ITR 1 to ITR 7) on the Income Tax portal is essential.
Familiarity with Tax Audit documentation (Form 3CA/3CB, Form 3CD) and Statutory Audit support work.
Ability to perform independent ledger scrutiny and accounts finalization with minimal supervision.
Basic knowledge of GST compliance (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, reconciliation) will be a strong advantage.
Software Proficiency: Tally Prime / Tally ERP 9 (mandatory), MS Excel (intermediate level minimum), Income Tax portal, and MCA/ROC portal.
Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, ability to handle multiple client files with competing deadlines, willingness to learn, and good communication for client coordination.
Experience: Minimum 3 to 4 years of hands-on experience in an accounting firm, CA firm, or similar practice environment preferred.
