About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Systems Engineer to oversee, maintain, and scale our on-premise server infrastructure. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to manage our existing server environment while designing and building new physical infrastructure from scratch. This is a fully on-site position requiring deep hands-on expertise with physical server hardware, operating systems, and virtualization.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Design & Build: Architect, rack, cable, and configure new physical server hardware and storage solutions from the ground up.
Maintenance & Optimization: Monitor, maintain, and optimize existing on-premise servers to ensure 99.9% uptime and peak performance.
OS & Virtualization Management: Deploy, configure, and administer operating systems (Windows Server/Linux) and enterprise hypervisors (VMware/Hyper-V).
Storage & Network Integration: Manage SAN/NAS storage arrays, configure RAID, and collaborate on network configurations (VLANs, DNS, DHCP).
Security & Disaster Recovery: Implement robust backup schedules, execute disaster recovery plans, and apply critical security patches and updates.
Troubleshooting: Serve as the escalation point for complex hardware, software, and infrastructure performance issues.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: 5–8+ years of experience in system engineering, infrastructure architecture, or senior systems administration.
Hardware Expertise: Proven, hands-on experience building and maintaining enterprise physical servers (e.g., Dell PowerEdge, HPE ProLiant).
OS Mastery: Deep technical knowledge of [Windows Server and Active Directory / Linux distributions like Red Hat or Ubuntu].
Virtualization: Strong expertise in managing enterprise virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware vSphere/ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V).
Data Protection: Solid experience with enterprise backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, Commvault). [1]
Education & Certifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field; OR equivalent 7+ years of hands-on professional experience.
Preferred Certifications (At least one of the following is highly desirable):
VMware Certified Professional (VCP-DCV)
Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
