Job Summary:
The Garment Fabric Checker is responsible for inspecting fabrics used in garment production to ensure they meet company and buyer quality standards. The role involves checking for defects, measuring fabric quality parameters, and maintaining accurate inspection records to ensure only approved materials are used in production.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect incoming fabric rolls for defects such as holes, stains, weaving faults, color shading, or printing errors.
Measure fabric width, length, GSM (grams per square meter), and shrinkage as per specifications.
Grade and classify fabrics according to quality standards (e.g., 4-point or 10-point system).
Record and report inspection results, including defect type, location, and roll number.
Coordinate with the fabric store, cutting, and production departments to ensure only approved fabric is issued.
Identify and segregate defective rolls and communicate with suppliers or the purchasing department for replacements or claims.
Ensure that all inspected fabric is properly labelled and stored.
Follow company quality assurance procedures and maintain workplace safety and cleanliness.
Assist in the continuous improvement of fabric inspection processes.
Qualifications & Skills:
Minimum 1–5 years of experience in fabric inspection or garment quality control.
Knowledge of different types of fabrics, weaves, and common textile defects.
Familiarity with fabric inspection systems (4-point, 10-point, or buyer-specific).
Strong attention to detail and good eyesight.
Basic data entry and record-keeping skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
