A Senior EV (Electric Vehicle) Electric Technician is a highly skilled specialist responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining the complex electrical, electronic, and drivetrain systems of electric cars. As a senior role, this position requires in-depth knowledge of high-voltage systems (batteries, inverters, motors) and often involves leading a team or mentoring junior technicians.
Core Responsibilities
Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Using advanced OEM diagnostic tools and software to identify faults in high-voltage batteries, electric motors, inverters, and battery management systems (BMS).
High-Voltage Repairs: Safely performing repairs, component replacements (battery modules, drive units), and firmware upgrades.
Preventive Maintenance: Conducting routine service and inspections on EV powertrains, cooling systems, and electrical components to ensure safety and performance.
Safety Compliance: Strict adherence to high-voltage safety protocols, including the use of specialized personal protective equipment (PPE).
Team Leadership: Guiding junior technicians, overseeing workshop safety, and managing maintenance schedules.
Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of repairs, diagnostic data, and vehicle history.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education: ITI or Diploma in Electrical, Automobile, or Electronics Engineering.
Experience: Generally 2–5+ years of experience in automotive service, with specific experience in electric vehicles.
Technical Skills: Deep understanding of EV charging infrastructure, CAN bus diagnostics, and electrical troubleshooting.
Certifications: EV safety certification (e.g., High Voltage Safety) is highly desirable.
