Unlike a construction electrician focused on new installations, a GPM electrician focuses on maintaining existing infrastructure, frequently in commercial or industrial settings.

Job Description for GPM Electrician

• Routine Inspections: Daily, weekly, or monthly inspections of electrical systems to identify defects, hazards, or potential failures.

• Preventive Maintenance: Cleaning circuits, tightening connections, lubricating motors, and replacing worn components (switches, breakers, lighting) before they fail.

• Troubleshooting: Diagnosing electrical faults and malfunctions using testing devices like multimeters, ammeters, and voltmeters.

• Repair and Replacement: Fixing broken electrical systems, wiring, and apparatus, including motors, generators, and control systems.

• Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of maintenance performed, repairs needed, and materials used in a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).

• Safety Compliance: Adhering to all safety standards (e.g., OSHA, NFPA-70E) and electrical codes.

• Emergency Response: Responding to electrical breakdowns, power outages, or malfunctions to minimize downtime.
