Department: Kitchen / Bakery
Experience: 2–4 years (depending on the outlet's requirements)
Reports To: Demi Chef de Partie / Chef de Partie / Sous Chef
Job Summary
The Commis 1 is responsible for independently handling an assigned kitchen or bakery section, preparing food according to company recipes and quality standards, and supporting smooth daily kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook food items or bakery products as per standardized recipes.
Handle assigned kitchen sections with minimal supervision.
Ensure consistency in taste, quality, presentation and portion sizes.
Monitor ingredient availability and inform the senior chef about shortages.
Maintain food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards.
Ensure proper storage, labelling and rotation of ingredients using FIFO.
Operate kitchen equipment safely and maintain cleanliness.
Support inventory checks and minimize food wastage.
Guide Commis 2 and Commis 3 team members when required.
Follow production schedules and complete tasks within deadlines.
Required Skills
Good knowledge of cooking techniques or bakery production.
Ability to work independently in an assigned section.
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
Teamwork, time management and attention to detail.
Qualification: Relevant culinary qualification or equivalent practical experience preferred.
