About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Architectural Draftsman and Designer to support residential and light commercial construction projects throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, California. The ideal candidate will be responsible for producing accurate architectural drawings, floor plans, site plans, lot maps, permit sets, and construction documents that comply with California building codes and local jurisdiction requirements.
The candidate will work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, surveyors, and contractors to prepare documentation required for planning, permitting, engineering coordination and construction execution.

Key Responsibilities
Architectural Drafting & Design
• Create detailed architectural floor plans for new construction, additions, accessory dwelling units, remodels, and renovations.
• Develop elevation drawings, sections, roof plans, and construction details.
• Prepare complete permit-ready architectural drawing sets.
• Produce conceptual designs based on client requirements and sketches.
• Modify and update drawings based on city comments and field conditions.
Site Planning & Lot Mapping
• Create accurate site plans and lot maps using survey data.
• Research city and area based requirements to adhere with the building codes.
• Prepare setback calculations, lot coverage calculations, and zoning compliance diagrams.
• Draft grading concepts and site layouts where applicable.
• Coordinate site information with surveyors and civil engineers.
Engineering Coordination
• Prepare architectural backgrounds for structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing consultants.
• Incorporate engineering markups into construction documents.
• Coordinate drawing revisions between various disciplines.
Construction Documentation
• Produce comprehensive construction drawing packages.
• Create demolition plans, framing plans, and detailed construction sections.
• Maintain drawing standards, layer management, and file organization.
• Ensure all drawings meet project specifications and quality standards.
Permit & Code Compliance
• Assist in preparing permit submission packages.
• Review drawings for compliance with California Building Code (CBC), Residential Code (CRC), and local Bay Area requirements.
• Revise plans based on city plan-check comments.

Required Qualifications
• Degree or Diploma in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Building Design, or related field.
• 3+ years of architectural drafting experience.
• Strong understanding of residential construction methods.
• Experience working on U.S. residential projects preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret survey maps, engineering drawings, and construction documents.
• Excellent attention to detail and drafting accuracy.
