Draftsman Architect

1. Job Purpose

To prepare accurate 2D and 3D drawings for aluminium extrusion structures, PEB structures and related fabrication projects. The candidate will be responsible for converting design concepts and engineering inputs into detailed drawings that can be understood and executed by the Production, Fabrication and Installation Teams.

2. Key Roles & Responsibilities

A. Drawing & Drafting

1. Prepare 2D drawings using AutoCAD.

2. Prepare 3D models and presentations using Google SketchUp.

3. Develop plans, layouts, elevations, sections and detailed drawings.

4. Prepare General Arrangement (GA) drawings.

5. Prepare fabrication and installation drawings.

6. Prepare structural detailing, including joints, connections, brackets, plates and supports.

7. Make drawing revisions as per approved changes and site requirements.

B. Aluminium Extrusion Structure Detailing

1. Prepare detailed drawings of aluminium extrusion structures and assemblies.

2. Understand aluminium profile sections, dimensions and applications.

3. Show profile connections, joints, fasteners, brackets and accessories in drawings.

4. Prepare cutting-length details and component-wise drawings.

5. Coordinate with the Design Team for profile selection and technical details.

6. Prepare assembly and installation details for aluminium structures.

C. PEB & Structural Steel Drawings

1. Prepare PEB layouts, elevations and structural detailing.

2. Prepare drawings for beams, columns, rafters, purlins and other structural members.

3. Prepare connection details, base plate details and bolt arrangements based on engineering inputs.

4. Understand fabrication drawings and structural member arrangements.

5. Coordinate with the engineering team for technical clarifications.

D. Production & Fabrication Coordination

1. Provide clear and accurate drawings to the Production Department.

2. Coordinate with Production and Fabrication Teams to resolve drawing-related issues.

3. Ensure drawings are practical and suitable for manufacturing.

4. Incorporate fabrication feedback and communicate approved revisions.

5. Support the team in resolving drawing discrepancies during production.

E. Project & Site Coordination

1. Understand project requirements, measurements and site conditions.

2. Coordinate with the Project and Installation Teams for site-related drawings.

3. Revise drawings based on approved site measurements.

4. Prepare installation and assembly drawings for the site team.

5. Maintain proper records of approved and revised drawings.

F. Documentation & Drawing Control

1. Maintain project-wise drawing folders and records.

2. Use proper drawing numbers, revision numbers and dates.

3. Maintain a record of approved, pending and revised drawings.

4. Ensure that only the latest approved drawings are issued to Production.

5. Prepare and update drawing-related material or component details wherever required.

3. Required Skills & Software

• AutoCAD – 2D drafting and detailing.

• Google SketchUp – 3D modelling and presentation.

• Knowledge of structural layouts, plans, elevations and sections.

• Knowledge of PEB and structural steel detailing.

• Knowledge of aluminium extrusion profiles and fabrication.

• Understanding of fabrication, assembly and installation drawings.

• Good measurement, dimensioning and drawing-reading skills.

• Coordination and communication skills.

4. Educational Qualification & Experience

• Diploma / ITI

• 2–8 years of relevant experience in structural drafting, PEB, aluminium fabrication or a similar industry.

• Practical knowledge of AutoCAD and Google SketchUp is essential.

5. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

The employee's performance will be evaluated on:

1. Drawing accuracy and minimum dimensional errors.

2. Timely completion of drawings as per project deadlines.

3. Quality and clarity of fabrication drawings.

4. Accuracy of aluminium profile and component detailing.

5. Number of drawing errors resulting in production rework.

6. Timely incorporation of approved revisions.

7. Coordination with Production, Design and Installation Teams.

8. Proper maintenance of project-wise drawing records.

Note: The Structural Draftsman will prepare drawings based on approved designs and engineering inputs. Structural calculations, design approval and technical certification must be handled by the authorised Design/Structural Engineer.
