Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated finance professional to support the accounting, reporting, compliance, and ERP transformation initiatives of a diversified Shipping Group. The role will involve end-to-end accounting oversight, financial reporting, reconciliations, audit coordination, MIS preparation, ERP implementation support, and IFRS compliance activities across multiple group entities.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Reconciliations
Perform and monitor bank reconciliations on a periodic basis.
Review and reconcile inter-company balances and transactions.
Conduct vendor, customer, and general ledger reconciliations.
Identify, investigate, and resolve unreconciled items and legacy accounting issues.
Undertake historical accounting data cleanup and ledger scrutiny.
GST & Compliance Support
Conduct GST reconciliations between books, returns, and supporting records.
Review GST input tax credit reconciliations and exception reports.
Assist in preparation of compliance-related schedules and management reports.
Coordinate with tax consultants and auditors for information requirements.
Financial Reporting & Finalisation
Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes.
Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with Schedule III of the Companies Act, 2013.
Prepare balance sheet schedules, lead schedules, and supporting working papers.
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of management and statutory reporting packs.
IFRS & Technical Accounting
Support implementation and compliance with IFRS requirements.
Prepare accounting position papers and technical accounting schedules.
Assist in preparation of IFRS disclosures and reporting packs.
Coordinate with auditors regarding accounting treatments and financial reporting requirements.
Audit Coordination
Liaise with statutory auditors, internal auditors, and management.
Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
Track audit queries and ensure timely closure of observations.
Support implementation of audit recommendations and process improvements.
ERP & Process Improvement
Support ERP implementation, migration, and stabilization activities.
Assist in master data validation and migration of historical financial data.
Perform system reconciliations and post-migration validations.
Prepare SOPs and process documentation for finance functions.
Coordinate with ERP consultants and internal stakeholders.
MIS & Management Reporting
Develop and maintain MIS reports and finance dashboards.
Analyze financial and operational data to provide management insights.
Prepare variance analysis, cash flow reports, and KPI-based reporting.
Support management decision-making through data-driven reporting.
Ad-hoc Assignments
Assist management in special projects, business analysis, and process improvement initiatives.
Support new accounting, reporting, and compliance requirements as they arise.
Handle any other finance and accounts-related assignments within the group.
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Working knowledge of Schedule III financial statement preparation.
Understanding of GST reconciliations and compliance requirements.
Exposure to IFRS/Ind AS reporting and disclosures.
Strong reconciliation and analytical skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivots, lookups, dashboards).
Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Tally, or similar platforms.
Ability to manage multiple entities and deadlines simultaneously.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Experience
Experience in shipping, maritime, vessel management, logistics, trading, or group accounting environments.
Prior exposure to ERP migration or implementation projects.
Experience in preparation of management dashboards and MIS reporting.
Familiarity with multi-entity accounting and consolidation processes.
