Warehouse Manager

Job Purpose

To manage and control overall warehouse operations, ensuring efficient receipt, storage, inventory management, order processing, dispatch, manpower utilization, safety, and compliance while maintaining accuracy and service levels.

Key Responsibilities

1. Warehouse Operations

• Manage day-to-day warehouse activities, including receiving, unloading, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch.

• Ensure proper utilization of warehouse space and storage locations.

• Develop and implement efficient warehouse processes and SOPs.

• Ensure timely inward and outward movement of materials.

2. Inventory Management

• Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure physical stock matches system records.

• Conduct regular cycle counts and periodic physical stock verification.

• Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies, shortages, damages, and excess inventory.

• Ensure proper FIFO/FEFO practices wherever applicable.

3. Manpower Management

• Manage warehouse staff, supervisors, loaders, pickers, and other operational manpower.

• Plan manpower according to workload and operational requirements.

• Allocate daily duties and monitor employee productivity.

• Conduct training, performance monitoring, and disciplinary actions when required.

4. Dispatch & Logistics

• Coordinate with transporters, vendors, customers, and internal departments for timely dispatches.

• Monitor vehicle loading, route planning, documentation, and delivery schedules.

• Ensure proper documentation for all inward and outward transactions.

5. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with warehouse safety rules, fire safety requirements, PPE usage, and housekeeping standards.

• Conduct regular safety inspections and take corrective actions.

• Ensure compliance with company policies, statutory requirements, and audit requirements.

• Maintain proper records and documentation for audits.

6. Warehouse Maintenance

• Coordinate maintenance of warehouse infrastructure, material-handling equipment, racks, electrical systems, DG/UPS, CCTV, fire-fighting equipment, and other facilities.

• Ensure proper housekeeping and pest-control activities.

• Monitor warehouse security and access control.

7. MIS & Reporting

• Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports related to inventory, inward/outward, dispatches, manpower, productivity, damages, and warehouse performance.

• Monitor key performance indicators such as inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, productivity, and turnaround time.

• Use ERP/WMS or other warehouse management software for operational control.

Required Skills

• Strong warehouse and inventory management skills.

• Good knowledge of WMS/ERP and MS Excel.

• Manpower handling and team-management skills.

• Strong communication and coordination abilities.

• Problem-solving and decision-making skills.

• Knowledge of warehouse safety and statutory compliance.

• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple activities simultaneously.

Qualification

• Graduate in any discipline.

• Diploma/Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related field will be preferred.
