
Key responsibilities
Receive and inspect shipments: Unload and inspect all incoming goods, ensuring they match the order and are free from damage.
Verify and document: Check deliveries against invoices and purchase orders, and accurately record received items in the system.
Communicate and report: Inform relevant staff about incoming shipments, any discrepancies, shortages, or damages to resolve issues with suppliers.
Manage inventory: Assist with stocking shelves, organizing inventory in the warehouse or backroom, and placing orders for supplies when needed.
Maintain the work area: Keep the receiving area clean, organized, and safe.
Required skills and qualifications
Physical ability: Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks like bending and standing for long periods.
Organizational skills: Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage inventory and paperwork accurately.
Communication skills: Ability to communicate effectively with team members and external suppliers.
Computer proficiency: Basic computer skills for data entry and familiarity with inventory software.
Education: Typically a high school diploma or equivalent is required for entry-level positions.
Other skills: Basic math skills and the ability to follow instructions are essential. Experience with equipment like forklifts is often helpful.
