Transport Manager

1. Planning & Coordination

• Plan and organize the transportation of coal from mines to plants or end-users.

• Coordinate with mining officials, transport contractors, and plant logistics teams.

• Monitor dispatch schedules to ensure timely delivery.

2. Fleet & Vehicle Management

• Manage and oversee the fleet of trucks/trailers used in coal transportation.

• Ensure regular vehicle maintenance, servicing, and inspection for safety compliance.

• Optimize truck routing to reduce fuel consumption and turnaround time.

3. Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure adherence to environmental and government transport regulations.

• Maintain accurate records of coal movement, vehicle logs, weighbridge slips, and delivery challans.

• Ensure proper documentation for GST, E-way bills, and other regulatory requirements.

4. Safety Management

• Enforce strict safety protocols for loading, transport, and unloading of coal.

• Conduct regular safety drills and driver awareness sessions.

• Report and investigate any transport-related incidents or accidents.

5. Vendor & Driver Supervision

• Oversee transport vendors and ensure contract terms are followed.

• Supervise drivers and helpers; handle grievances and attendance.

• Ensure availability of trained drivers and support staff.

6. Cost Control & Budgeting

• Monitor transportation costs and identify areas for cost reduction.

• Negotiate transport rates with vendors and manage budgeting.

7. Real-Time Tracking & MIS Reporting

• Use GPS and transport software to track vehicle movement in real-time.

• Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports for senior management.

• Analyze transport data to improve efficiency and service quality.

8. Emergency Handling

• Develop contingency plans for vehicle breakdowns, strikes, or weather disruptions.
