Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Quality Inspector with practical experience in toolroom activities, assembly, sheet metal fabrication, and casting inspection. The candidate should be capable of inspecting components, subassemblies, and finished products to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, dimensional tolerances, quality standards, and customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect incoming raw materials, machined components, sheet metal parts, castings, and assembled products.
- Perform dimensional inspection using precision measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and inspection specifications.
- Conduct first-piece, in-process, and final inspections.
- Inspect toolroom components, jigs, fixtures, dies, moulds, and precision-machined parts.
- Verify assembly fitment, alignment, clearances, fastening, and functional requirements.
- Inspect sheet metal components for dimensions, bends, holes, flatness, weld quality, and surface defects.
- Inspect cast components for dimensional accuracy and defects such as porosity, cracks, blowholes, shrinkage, and surface irregularities.
- Prepare inspection reports, maintain quality records, and document non-conformities.
- Identify quality issues and coordinate with production and engineering teams for corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure compliance with quality procedures, control plans, and applicable standards.
- Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities to reduce rejection and rework.
Required Technical Skills
- Toolroom: Knowledge of precision components, tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and machining inspection.
- Assembly: Ability to inspect component fitment, alignment, tolerances, and functional performance.
- Sheet Metal: Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes, bending, punching, drilling, welding, and dimensional inspection.
- Casting: Knowledge of casting processes and inspection of cast components for dimensional and visual defects.
- Measuring Instruments: Hands-on experience with Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, dial indicators, and other precision instruments.
- Drawing Interpretation: Ability to read engineering drawings, understand tolerances, and apply GD&T where required.
- Quality Documentation: Preparation of inspection reports, rejection reports, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
Experience
- 1 - 2 years of experience in quality inspection in a manufacturing or engineering industry.
- Experience in toolroom, assembly, sheet metal fabrication, and casting is preferred.
Required Personal Skills
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to identify defects and resolve quality issues with cross-functional teams.
- Commitment to quality, accuracy, and safety.
- Ability to work independently and meet inspection deadlines.
Preferred Candidate: A hands-on Quality Inspector with sound knowledge of mechanical components, precision measurement, manufacturing processes, and quality control procedures.
