Quality Control Officer (M.Sc.) – Jams & Pickle Manufacturing
Qualification
M.Sc. in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.
Experience
Minimum 2–5 years of experience in Quality Control within the jams, pickles, preserves, or processed food manufacturing industry.
Hands-on experience in quality testing of jams, pickles, sauces, and related food products is mandatory.
Job Summary
The Quality Control Officer is responsible for ensuring that all raw materials, in-process products, and finished products comply with company quality standards, food safety regulations, and customer specifications. The role includes laboratory testing, process monitoring, documentation, and implementation of quality and food safety systems.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct quality inspection and laboratory analysis of raw materials, packaging materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
Monitor the production of jams, pickles, preserves, and related products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Perform physical, chemical, and microbiological testing of products.
Verify product parameters such as pH, Total Soluble Solids (°Brix), acidity, salt content, moisture, preservatives, and microbial quality.
Ensure compliance with Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Hygiene Practices (GHP), and HACCP requirements.
Maintain laboratory records, test reports, batch records, and quality documentation.
Investigate product deviations and customer complaints, and support root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Monitor sanitation, hygiene, and pest control practices in the production facility.
Coordinate with Production, Procurement, and R&D departments to maintain product quality and consistency.
Participate in internal and external quality audits.
Ensure calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and food safety.
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of quality control procedures in food processing.
Practical experience in testing jams, pickles, and preserved food products.
Knowledge of FSSAI regulations, HACCP, GMP, GHP, and food safety management systems.
Familiarity with laboratory instruments and analytical testing methods.
Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Skills
Experience with ISO 22000, BRCGS, or other food safety management systems.
Knowledge of shelf-life studies, product stability testing, and sensory evaluation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality documentation systems.
