Purchase Executive

A textile purchase professional, such as a Textile Buyer or Purchasing Officer, is responsible for sourcing and procuring fabrics, materials, and related supplies for a company's production needs. Key responsibilities generally include: 

Core Responsibilities

• Supplier Identification and Evaluation: Identifying, researching, and vetting potential domestic and international suppliers to establish a reliable and sustainable supply chain.

• Negotiation and Contract Management: Negotiating prices, terms, and contracts with suppliers to secure cost-effective deals and favorable terms while ensuring quality standards are met.

• Market Analysis and Sourcing Strategy: Monitoring market trends, price fluctuations, and industry conditions to make informed purchasing decisions and develop effective sourcing strategies.

• Order and Inventory Management: Creating and managing purchase orders, tracking shipments to ensure timely delivery, and monitoring inventory levels to prevent stockouts or overstock situations.

• Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensuring all incoming materials meet the company’s quality standards and industry-specific certifications (e.g., GOTS, Fair Trade, etc.).

• Cross-functional Collaboration: Working closely with design, product development, production, and logistics teams to align material choices with design specifications, production timelines, and business goals.

• Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate records of purchases, supplier information, and contracts, and preparing reports on cost analysis, supplier performance, and market conditions for management. 

Key Skills Required

• Strong negotiation and communication skills.

• Analytical ability and attention to detail.

• Knowledge of textile materials (yarns, fabrics, trims) and industry-specific quality standards.

• Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and data analysis tools (e.g., MS Excel).

• Problem-solving and time management skills.
