Job Description – Production Merchant (Garment Exports Industry)

Job Summary:

The Production Merchant is responsible for handling the execution of garment export orders from sampling to shipment. This role involves coordinating with buyers, production teams, suppliers, and quality departments to ensure timely deliveries, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Communicate with international buyers regarding order status, approvals, and production updates.

• Coordinate with the sampling team to develop and dispatch samples as per buyer requirements.

• Prepare and review production schedules, ensuring on-time order execution.

• Follow up with fabric, trims, and accessory suppliers for timely delivery of raw materials.

• Monitor production processes to ensure quality and compliance with buyer specifications.

• Maintain records of purchase orders, approvals, production reports, and shipment documents.

• Coordinate with the quality assurance team to ensure inspections are completed before shipment.

• Ensure smooth communication between design, sampling, production, and logistics departments.

• Negotiate with suppliers for cost-effective sourcing while maintaining quality standards.

• Track shipment schedules and follow up with logistics for timely dispatch.

• Handle any production-related issues and resolve them promptly to avoid shipment delays.
  

Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Technology, Textile, Apparel Merchandising, or related field.

• Minimum 2–5 years of experience in garment exports or production merchandising.

• Strong knowledge of fabrics, trims, garment construction, and production processes.

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills (written & verbal).

• Ability to multitask and handle pressure in a fast-paced environment.

• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ERP systems (preferred).

• Knowledge of international compliance, quality standards, and export documentation.
