Picker / Packer

A warehouse picker-packer is responsible for finding, collecting, and securing products from warehouse shelves to fulfill customer orders, ensuring items are packed correctly, labeled, and prepared for shipment while maintaining inventory accuracy and adhering to safety standards. Key duties include operating scanners and warehouse equipment, inspecting products for damage, maintaining a clean work area, and communicating with team members to meet productivity goals.  

Key Responsibilities

• Order Picking:

  Using pick lists or handheld scanners, locate specific products from warehouse inventory shelves according to customer orders. 

• Product Verification:

  Check items for accuracy in quantity, quality, and for any signs of damage before packing. 

• Packaging:

  Securely pack items in appropriate containers (boxes, cartons) and add necessary packing materials to prevent damage during transit. 

• Labeling & Documentation:

  Accurately label packages with shipping information, barcodes, and necessary paperwork. 

• Inventory Management:

  Use scanning devices and computer systems to update inventory records and ensure accurate stock levels. 

• Equipment Operation:

  Safely operate various warehouse equipment, such as pallet jacks, dolly loaders, and potentially forklifts. 

• Shipping & Loading:

  Transport packed orders to the designated shipping areas and assist in loading completed orders onto trucks. 

• Housekeeping:

  Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the warehouse. 

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Physical Stamina: The ability to stand, walk, lift heavy items, and work on your feet for extended periods. 

• Attention to Detail: Meticulousness in following orders, checking products, and ensuring accuracy. 

• Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with other warehouse staff to ensure smooth operations. 

• Basic Computer Skills: Proficiency with scanners, handheld devices, and other technology used for order fulfillment. 

• Safety Awareness: Following safety protocols and reporting potential hazards. 

• High School Diploma or equivalent: is often a minimum requirement.
