Restaurant Waiter

A restaurant cashier operates a point-of-sale (POS) system to process customer orders and payments, handle cash and card transactions, and issue receipts.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Transaction Processing:

  Operate the POS system to input customer orders, calculate bills, and process payments (cash, credit, debit, mobile). 

• Customer Interaction:

  Greet customers, provide a welcoming atmosphere, answer questions about the menu, and handle general customer inquiries. 

• Cash Management:

  Accurately count and handle cash, make change, and reconcile the cash drawer at the end of each shift. 

• Order Fulfillment:

  Assist with taking orders, putting takeout orders into containers or bags, and sometimes helping with basic food preparation. 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Customer Service: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide a positive experience for customers. 

• Attention to Detail: Strong focus to ensure accuracy in transactions and cash handling. 

• Basic Math Skills: Ability to perform calculations for transactions and drawer balancing. 

• POS System Proficiency: Experience or ability to learn how to operate a point-of-sale (POS) system. 

• Organizational Skills: Ability to maintain a clean and organized checkout area and manage multitasking in a fast-paced environment. 

• Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve customer issues or complaints effectively.
