Restaurant Captain

Key Responsibilities:

• Guest Experience:

  • Greet and seat guests, ensuring a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

  • Provide menu explanations, offer recommendations, and answer questions related to food and drinks.

  • Ensure guests' needs are met and address any concerns or complaints in a professional and timely manner.

  • Oversee the dining area to ensure all guests receive prompt, courteous, and efficient service.

• Team Leadership:

  • Lead, motivate, and guide the front-of-house staff, ensuring high-quality service.

  • Allocate and supervise tasks among servers, runners, and other front-of-house staff.

  • Train and mentor new staff members, providing guidance on best practices and customer service standards.

  • Monitor staff performance and provide feedback to improve efficiency and service quality.

• Operational Management:

  • Ensure proper setup and cleaning of the dining area, including table settings, equipment, and supplies.

  • Manage reservations and ensure seating arrangements are well-organized to optimize flow and capacity.

  • Monitor service flow, ensuring all orders are delivered accurately and on time.

  • Assist in inventory control by ensuring adequate stock levels for service areas.

• Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure food and beverage quality meets restaurant standards.

  • Perform regular checks on cleanliness and hygiene in the dining area, bathrooms, and service stations.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

• Communication and Coordination:

  • Communicate effectively with the kitchen, management, and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.

  • Handle guest feedback, complaints, and special requests with professionalism and a solution-oriented approach.

  • Report any issues or concerns to management promptly and efficiently.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Restaurant Captain, Supervisor, or in a similar front-of-house leadership role.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

• In-depth knowledge of food and beverage service and restaurant operations.

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• Strong customer service orientation and a passion for delivering outstanding experiences.

• Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift and carry trays, and perform other tasks as required.
