Job Title: Restaurant Captain
Department: Food & Beverage Service
Reports To: Restaurant Manager / Floor Manager
Job Summary:
The Restaurant Captain is responsible for supervising daily floor operations, guiding service staff, ensuring high-quality guest service, and maintaining coordination between kitchen and service teams. The role ensures smooth service flow, guest satisfaction, and adherence to restaurant standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Supervision
Supervise and coordinate the activities of waiters and stewards during shifts
Assign duties and service sections to team members
Ensure grooming standards and discipline are maintained
Train new service staff on SOPs and service etiquette
2. Guest Service
Welcome and interact with guests professionally
Handle guest complaints promptly and effectively
Ensure service standards are consistently maintained
Monitor guest satisfaction throughout service
3. Service Operations
Ensure proper table setup before service begins
Coordinate with kitchen staff for smooth order flow
Monitor food quality and presentation before serving
Support staff during peak service hours
4. Order & Billing Coordination
Assist in taking orders when required
Ensure accuracy in order punching and billing
Coordinate with cashier for smooth billing operations
5. Inventory & Hygiene Control
Monitor availability of cutlery, crockery, and service equipment
Ensure cleanliness of service areas and dining floor
Follow hygiene and safety standards as per company policy
6. Reporting & Communication
Report daily service updates to the Restaurant Manager
Communicate guest feedback to management
Maintain shift records and staff attendance if required
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Minimum 6months – 3years of experience in restaurant service
Strong leadership and communication skills
Excellent guest-handling ability
Knowledge of service standards and SOPs
Ability to work in fast-paced environments
Basic POS system knowledge preferred
Education:
Diploma/Degree in Hotel Management preferred (not mandatory with relevant experience)
Working Conditions:
Flexible shifts including weekends and holidays
Standing for extended periods during service hours
