The Role

As our Video Editor, you will be responsible for the full post-production lifecycle of our YouTube videos, ensuring a cohesive and high-quality aesthetic across our channel.

Key Responsibilities

• Edit Raw Footage: Assemble, trim, and structure raw footage, voiceovers, and scripts into a polished, final product.

• Visual Storytelling: Source, select, and integrate high-quality stock footage, motion graphics, maps, satellite imagery, archival photos, and historical clips to enhance the narrative and simplify complex concepts visually.

• Dynamic Pacing: Maintain a fast-paced, engaging, and dynamic edit that maximises viewer retention and click-through rates (CTR).

• Sound Design & Mixing: Integrate sound effects, background music, and ensure professional-level audio mixing and levelling for clear voiceover.

• Colour Correction/Grading: Apply professional colour grading to achieve a consistent and compelling look.

• Optimise for YouTube: Create captivating trailer cuts and provide input for impactful thumbnails.

• Collaborate: Work closely with scriptwriters, voiceover artists, and producers to ensure the final video aligns with the editorial vision.

What We're Looking For

• Proven Experience: A strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in highly engaging, visually complex, and fact-based YouTube content (ideally in the geopolitics, history, or documentary space). Please provide links to your best work.

• Software Proficiency: Expert knowledge of industry-standard editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve). Experience with After Effects or other motion graphics software is a significant plus.

• Aesthetic Eye: An exceptional understanding of pacing, timing, composition, and visual hierarchy to make dense topics easy to digest and visually exciting.

• Subject Matter Interest: A genuine interest in and understanding of geopolitical dynamics, military history, and current world affairs—you know what kind of visuals best represent concepts like 'sanctions,' 'deterrence,' or 'the Cold War.'

• Efficiency: Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously without compromising quality.
