Department: Engineering & Maintenance
Reports To: Engineering Supervisor / Chief Engineer
The Technician is responsible for the effective operation, maintenance and repair of all hotel equipment, facilities and systems to ensure a safe, comfortable and seamless experience for guests and staff. This role supports preventive maintenance, emergency response, and day-to-day repair work in a luxury hospitality environment.
🔧 Maintenance & Technical Duties
Perform routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, HVAC (air conditioning), plumbing, refrigeration, fire & life safety systems, and other engineering equipment.
Conduct inspection rounds in guest rooms, public areas, back of house and common facilities to identify maintenance needs or potential safety issues.
Attend guest and departmental requests for repairs (e.g., lighting, AC, plumbing leaks, electrical faults) promptly and professionally.
Repair or replace fixtures, appliances, furniture and equipment as required.
Perform basic carpentry, painting, masonry and other minor building repairs when needed.
🛠 Preventive & Safety Work
Follow and implement the hotel’s preventive maintenance schedule to reduce breakdowns.
Ensure compliance with fire, health and safety regulations; respond to emergency situations effectively.
Maintain cleanliness and safety of the maintenance workshop and assigned areas.
📊 Record-Keeping & Reporting
Log maintenance tasks, inspections, repairs, and supplies used; prepare reports for supervisors.
Communicate daily activities and issues to the Engineering Manager or Duty Engineer.
🤝 Guest Interaction & Teamwork
Interact courteously with guests when addressing maintenance requests.
Coordinate with housekeeping, front office and other departments to minimize guest disruption.
Assist in training or guiding junior technicians or apprentices as required.
🗓 Other Duties
Support installation of new equipment and renovation work as needed.
Perform additional tasks as assigned by engineering leadership.
Educational / Technical Requirements
ITI Diploma or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Refrigeration or related trade.
Trade certificates or technical qualifications preferred.
Experience
Previous experience in hotel maintenance, engineering or similar technical role (1–3+ years preferred for star hotels).
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, and general building maintenance.
Ability to use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment and maintenance software.

Professional appearance and adherence to hotel standards.
Work Conditions
Must be willing to work in rotating shifts (including nights, weekends and holidays).
