We are seeking a skilled Printer Support Engineer to manage, troubleshoot, and maintain printers across the organization. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of printer drivers, network connectivity, firmware updates, and hands-on experience resolving common printer issues.
Install, configure, and manage printer drivers for various printer models.
Explain and ensure proper use of printer drivers to enable effective communication between computers and printers.
Diagnose and resolve common printer issues such as paper jams, poor print quality, and hardware errors.
Identify causes of paper jams (incorrect paper type, misaligned trays, worn rollers, debris) and implement effective resolutions.
Troubleshoot printers not connecting to the network (IP issues, driver problems, network configuration).
Resolve printers showing “Offline” status by checking connectivity, spooler services, driver settings, and network paths.
Understand and support different printer languages and drivers, including PCL and PostScript, and recommend the appropriate driver based on user requirements.
Check, update, and maintain printer firmware to ensure optimal performance and security.
Coordinate with vendors or internal IT teams for advanced troubleshooting and repairs.
Provide end-user support and basic training related to printer usage and best practices.
Maintain documentation for printer configurations, issues, and resolutions.
Strong understanding of printer drivers and their purpose.
Hands-on experience troubleshooting paper jams and hardware issues.
Knowledge of network printing, TCP/IP, and printer sharing.
Experience resolving offline printer issues.
Understanding of PCL vs PostScript drivers and their use cases.
Ability to check and update printer firmware safely.
Familiarity with Windows (and/or macOS) printing environments.
Good problem-solving and communication skills.
Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).
1–3 years of experience in IT support or printer support (can be adjusted).
Experience with enterprise or multi-function printers (HP, Canon, Ricoh, Xerox, etc.).
Ability to work independently and manage multiple support requests.
Customer-focused mindset with attention to detail.
