Job Description

A pest control technician is a trained professional responsible for identifying, managing, and eliminating pests (such as rodents, termites, cockroaches, ants, and bedbugs) from residential homes, commercial offices, and industrial properties.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Property Inspections: Checking crawl spaces, attics, walls, and perimeters to find pest nests or entryways.
Treatment Application: Deploying traps, chemical barriers, gel baits, and eco-friendly products safely according to health regulations.
Pest Exclusion: Sealing cracks, holes, and structural gaps with mesh or foam to prevent future infestations.
Customer Education: Advising property owners on proper sanitation, food storage, and preventive measures to keep pests away.
Service Logging: Maintaining accurate digital logs of chemical usage, treatment steps, and invoices via field service software.

Requirements and Key Skills

Education: A minimum of a high school diploma or 12th-grade pass certificate is standard.
Physical Fitness: Capacity to work outdoors, climb ladders, lift heavy spray equipment, and navigate tight, confined spaces.
Technical Knowledge: Understanding of pest biology, pesticide safety instructions, and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) protocols.
Valid Driver’s License: Required by most companies to navigate assigned daily field service routes.
