Service advisor

1. Customer Interaction

• Greet and assist fleet customers or commercial clients.

• Understand and document vehicle issues based on client descriptions.

• Provide accurate repair estimates and timelines.

• Explain services, repairs, and charges clearly to customers.

2. Service Coordination

• Schedule maintenance and repair appointments.

• Prioritize jobs based on urgency and workload.

• Liaise between customers and the workshop/technicians.

• Ensure parts and labor availability for scheduled work.

3. Technical Knowledge

• Understand the workings of commercial vehicle systems (diesel engines, air brakes, etc.).

• Interpret diagnostic reports and work orders.

• Advise customers on preventative maintenance specific to fleet operations.

4. Workshop Communication

• Communicate customer concerns clearly to technicians.

• Follow up on progress of repairs and keep customers informed.

• Review completed jobs for accuracy and completeness.

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate service records.

• Create repair orders and update vehicle history.

• Track warranty and recall information.

• Process invoices and payment records.

6. Compliance & Safety

• Ensure repairs comply with regulatory standards (DOT, local transport authorities, etc.).

• Adhere to company and industry safety policies.

• Monitor fleet service schedules to ensure vehicles remain road-legal and safe.
