Safety Officer

Key Responsibilities:

• Safety Management:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs tailored to the construction of hospital buildings.

  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, local building codes, and company safety policies.

  • Monitor site conditions and practices to ensure safety standards are maintained at all times.

• Training & Education:

  • Conduct safety orientation and ongoing training sessions for all construction personnel, including subcontractors.

  • Educate employees on safety procedures, emergency protocols, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Develop and distribute safety manuals, guidelines, and related materials.

• Incident Management:

  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.

  • Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, including documentation of investigations and corrective measures.

  • Prepare and submit reports to management and relevant authorities as required.

• Coordination & Communication:

  • Liaise with project managers, site supervisors, and contractors to integrate safety practices into daily operations.

  • Act as the point of contact for all safety-related matters, including emergency response and coordination with external agencies.

  • Participate in safety committee meetings and provide updates on safety performance and initiatives.

• Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices, safety regulations, and legislative changes affecting construction safety.

  • Ensure that all permits, licenses, and certifications related to safety are up to date and properly documented.

• Emergency Preparedness:

  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures and first-aid protocols.

  • Coordinate regular emergency drills and ensure that all personnel are familiar with emergency procedures.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.

• Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in construction safety, with specific experience in hospital or healthcare facility construction.

• In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards, local safety regulations, and industry best practices.

• Excellent communication, training, and leadership skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced construction environment.

Working Conditions:

• Primarily site-based role with occasional office work.

• May involve exposure to challenging environments, including heights, heavy machinery, and hazardous materials.

• Regular travel between construction sites as required.
